Chewy Chocolate Blonde Brownies

photo(3)It’s always a happy day when David decides to bake! The outcome is delicious even though the kitchen is somewhat of a mess! His grandmother would have been happy to see these decadent chocolate squares served on this antique Spode china plate!

David gladly shares his recipe!

1/2 cup butter (and he uses the real thing!)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat the butter and both sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy. (David always likes to beat his by hand!) Beat in eggs and vanilla. Add the combined flour, baking powder and salt. Stir until it is well blended. Add the chocolate chips. Spread evenly into a greased 13×9 inch baking pan. Bake 25 minutes or until golden brown.

The recipe says to let them cool before cutting into pieces. Forget that!! David always digs in a few minutes after they are out of the oven!!
